Blah...

Well, I spent Saturday and Sunday moving stuff. Welsh Girl and I now officially and in every real sense of the term "live together".

We managed to luck into a washer and dryer. A couple of friends are moving into another place in preparation for a larger, more expansive move and needed to get rid of them. We got them cheap. They got them gone. That's synergy...

On the other hand, looks like one of the washer connections is leaking badly enough to come under the carpet through a wall. Time to call the management. They're going to tell us not to use it until they get around to it. Well, that doesn't bother me. I have two weeks worth of clothes now that they are all in the same place and not divided between two apartments.

The move on Saturday was invaluably helped by my mother's husband. It's nice knowing someone with a truck and trailer who is actually willing to help on occasion. Now, if I can only keep it down to less than once a year, I'm sure such goodwill can be maintained. The more important part is that my mother didn't come along. That was a pleasant surprise. I didn't need her on top of all the stress and fatigue of moving. That and I didn't want to chance her seeing any of my porn. I already made that mistake with the Welsh Parents. Nota bene for those of you who may one day encounter this issue: When the in-laws are coming over, don't leave "Shit Hole Sluts VIII" at eye level.

Had to work a split shift yesterday. That in itself wasn't bad. I had a lovely plan for my 5 hour free time that involved a small lunch at home, a long nap and maybe a bit of loving on my beloved Welsh Girl before having to report back to work. Unfortunately, Welsh Girl's schedule, my mother's calls and the calamities of the work place completely screwed that pooch. I'm lucky to have gotten in that 30 minute power nap. On the bright side, I did get a cinnamon roll out of the deal. I also got out of work a bit early (around 10PM) so I was able to go home and vegetate with the PS2 and Soulcalibur 3 for a bit before hanging laundry and going to bed.

So, here I am, tired and cranky but moved. Since I have to pay rent on my old place still anyway, I have a place to keep my stuff wile I gently take my time sorting and stuff. That and a place to put all the computer parts I have in my place (other than the borrowed bits) into a working computer. The next move for our place is bookshelves. We have many books between us and need a place to let them live and impress our friends and whatnot. That and I want to decide which "crappy" books I want to "bookmooch" away in favor of much more desired ones. I don't have many because all my books are my babies in my mind, but I have hundreds of children and favor some of them much, much less than others.

I'm tired and at work. I just want to take a nap. Is that so wrong? Actually, I want to take a week or two off but I can't afford that right now. Oh, well... Next weekend has a holiday, ACL Fest and my birthday are 3 weeks away and (Jeebus willing and the "crick" don't rise) we're going back to West Texas in October. Heck. Might even be able to make it a 4 day weekend. That would be pretty awesome.

Oh, well. The Tyrant returns to his duties...

That is all.

washer hoses are cheap by georgeha (4.00 / 1) #1 Tue Aug 29, 2006 at 09:25:21 AM EST
maybe $5 a piece, if that's all the problem is.

turn the water faucet off when you aren't running the washer. That would at least minimize the leak if new hoses didn't cut it.

Not our equipment... by atreides (4.00 / 2) #3 Tue Aug 29, 2006 at 09:53:43 AM EST
The hot water faucet the washer is connected to is leaking at the turning valve. I only wish it was as easy as just the washer hose...

Porn Collections by Improbus (4.00 / 1) #4 Tue Aug 29, 2006 at 11:13:21 AM EST
My friend you are in need of an encrypted hard drive.  Unless they repeal the 5th amendment your porn collection will be safe from the prying eyes of loved ones and law enforcement. \m/

The only thing about porn that embarasses me... by atreides (4.00 / 1) #5 Tue Aug 29, 2006 at 11:22:15 AM EST
...is that I actually paid for some when I can download all I can stand off the Intar-Web for gratis. Besides, Welsh Girl and I have many (though not all) of the same tastes in porn so, for the most part, there's no reason to hide it. The parental thing was a total fluke.

Ha, ha, ha HA!! by littlestar (2.00 / 0) #6 Sun Sep 03, 2006 at 02:07:55 PM EST
You're hilarious. Shit Hole Sluts... that's a classic. It brought to mind the delightful girls "studying" their bibles "religiously"... what was that one called again? Incest is best?

And, really as long as they don't find the handcuffs and/or whips, it's all cool.
